At the plant in Vorchdorf, in addition to small parts galvanizing in the normal temperature process, classic hot-dip galvanizing is also offered as corrosion protection for steel and metal parts. The considerable electricity consumption of the plant is to be generated in the future with the help of a photovoltaic system on the roof, i.e. directly on site, in order to sustainably reduce CO₂ emissions. An energy storage system will also be used to compensate for power peaks and reduce the load on the power grid.
In addition, a neoom BLOKK energy storage system was installed, which primarily has the task of handling power peaks. The storage unit offers a capacity of 398 kWh at a power of 300 kW. Surplus electricity from the photovoltaic system is stored and accessed at the appropriate time. This reduces the load on the electricity grid and results in a sustainable reduction in electricity costs for the customer. This neoom BLOKK with almost 400 kWh is currently the largest electricity storage unit in the grid of “Energie AG Oberösterreich”!
Since every square metre is valuable, the 398 kWh capacity of the energy storage system was housed in a separate concrete building of around 15m2. We call it the neoom BLOKK Power House. Thanks to the mobile construction the BLOKK Power House can even be moved to a different location and already complies with the OIB 2019 fire safety regulations.
