Energy Community Wienerwald: Solar Power for Everybody

Written by Agnes Schwarzer | May 30, 2022 7:53:44 AM

In 2010, an expert analysis revealed that 78% of the energy consumed in the Wienerwald region is fossil-based. This was a fact that local resident Christian Mrazek was by no means satisfied with, as he has been working in the renewable energy sector for 30 years.

In 2021, when the ministry finally presented energy communities through which private individuals, municipalities and SMEs could easily trade green electricity among themselves, he was very enthusiastic. Eventually, he came across the neoom KLUUB  - and discovered that it was a tool that could be used to bring an Energy Community very easily to life via the neoom APP: from setting it up to running it, including billing, and thus trading electricity with other people in his region. All within a legally secure framework: The energy community is organised in an association, neoom takes care of the processing in accordance with association, energy and tax law.

However, all these bureaucratic activities take place in the neoom KLUUB in the background; the individual members of the energy communities only deal with the outcome. They can expect not only simplicity, transparency and regional green electricity, but also a stable, low electricity price within the energy community and, at the same time, higher returns from feeding the energy they generate into the grid - and all this without having to change electricity providers.

Green growth

The demand for electricity in the Energy Community Wienerwald is correspondingly not only high in physical terms: any private person in the region can join, even if they do not produce their own electricity. Thus, the Energiegemeinschaft Wienerwald will provide electricity to the supply area of Wien23, Perchtoldsdorf, Kaltenleutgeben, Breitenfurt, Laab im Walde, Untertullnerbach, Purkersdorf, Gablitz, Mauerbach and Wien14. The initiator's goal: to reach 1000 members with his energy community. That would be about 30% of the households in the region. Christian is confident that this goal can be achieved.

We are happy that the Wienerwald region is under such (eco)power.

Would you also like to become part of an energy community? Then register in the KLUUB of the neoom APP and we will find the right energy community for you.

You live in the supply area of the Energy Community Wienerwald and would like to become part of exactly this energy community?

Christian Mrazek is looking forward to hear from you.
