Mandl's goat farm is up for the energy transition

Mandl's goat farm in the Buckligen Welt proved its innovative strength as early as 1921. 3 generations later, this is unbroken. Today, the goat farm relies on neoom as a partner for its visionary ideas. Of course, 100 years ago it was still different...

It can be said that Mandl's Ziegenhof has already accumulated 100 years of experience with energy storage systems. Back in 1921, the great-grandfather of the current owner installed Austria's first in-house wind turbine with battery storage. At that time, the electricity generated was used to supply the residential house with power and to operate a grist mill. The surplus wind energy was stored in glass batteries until it was needed. In 1942, however, the wind turbine was destroyed by a devastating storm. This was especially tragic because all the men had gone off to war and so the windmill could not be rebuilt! The women who stayed behind at the farm had to hold out for a long time entirely without electricity!

100 years later, the current owner of the house has returned to the tradition of the house by again relying on energy from sustainable sources. This time, however, not wind energy, but the power of the sun: The electricity is now generated from a 200 kWp photovoltaic system. The electricity storage system, however, is no longer self-built, but from neoom: the harvested, surplus energy is fed into a 100 kWh KJUUBE battery storage system. This provides the goat farm with 50 kW of power even in the event of a grid failure, thus ensuring security of supply for the farm management. So that the ladies of the house - now goat ladies - do not have to wait out without electricity again, but can continue to be milked with solar energy. Completely in harmony with nature.

The project was implemented with our partners pbeg, a project planning office, and Andreas Wieser as the executing electrician, who work tirelessly together with neoom to realize the energy turnaround!

Michael Mandl
"On our goat farm, we meticulously make sure to think and work in closed cycles in order to live sustainability holistically. This was also important to us when it came to energy generation. We are pleased to have found a competent partner in neoom to achieve our goal together: to have a functioning environment for future generations!"

Walter Kreisel CEO neoom
"Especially for farmers, large roof areas of stables are ideal for the use of photovoltaic systems. With the additional battery storage, even remote stables can be supplied with electricity. A storage system with a grid replacement function offers an additional advantage, as it provides security of supply in the event of a power failure. This is particularly relevant for animal rearing. We are pleased to be able to support Mandl's Ziegenhof in thinking about tomorrow today!"
